making scented candles

Hi, i am new to making candles, i want to make scented ones and i want to make wax melts for oil burners, i am just wondering which is the best wax i can use and what type of oils can i use, i also need some nice moulds, which ones are the best, i need some that don't break the wax once they are set, any help will be appreciated...thankyou...

I've made wax melts before and have found that soy wax is the best for making melts (you can use your microwave to melt it - and you can get this at hobbycraft or ebay - I used to get my supplies from www.whicksnwhacks.com - which i think is great value for money. Tart moulds are good to use - I find they don't break the melts when you take them out. Anyways if you go whicksnwhacks they do starter kits which sometimes have moulds in them.

Hi Dazzlebox, I don't know anything about making candles, but have you tried Googling it? I don't mean that to sound patronising, sorry! But whenever I need to know something I always google it first as I usually find all the info I need there.

Choice of wax is a entirely personal decision, Paraffin wax is a lot more consistent than soy wax which has the benefit of being easier to clean up and burns cooler.

Paraffin you will find you get the same results every time where as soy can be a right PITA to work with
